Folding carton valies with slip-over closure

Price: € 12.00

This ingenious small folding valies is stamped out of lightweight ribbed carton and immediately ready for use without any need for putting it together. Just fold! It has a slip-over closure to secure it's contents. It can contain approximately 250 sheets of A-4 paper or anything about that size.
It is the creation of Melle Hammer; Dutch typographer, designer, and teacher who in his own words is, "Lingering between art, design and advertising. Easily seduced to design a table, a chair or a stage-set. Every now and then a movie or a poem comes out. Always questioning the spot. On and on surprised, outraged or in love. Lost? Found!"

This silkscreen print by Richard Niessen was commissioned by the KVGO as their 'Koppermaandagprent' for the year 2004, and it represents the merger of the districts Haarlem and Amsterdam. It shows the Haarlemmerpoort in Amsterdam merged together with the Amsterdamsepoort in Haarlem and constructed out of the words 'Amsterdam', 'Haarlem', 'Kopperprent', 'Maandag 12 januari 2004', and 'KVGO'. It was produced in an edition of 125 copies for the KVGO and Niessen printed 25 extra copies for sale.
'Koppermaandag' is the traditional ushering in of the new year for the graphic industry in the Netherlands and many members of the industry produce a piece of exceptional 'printed matter' in a limited edition which they then offer as a gift to their business relations.

"The Dutch idiom 'to paste somebody behind the wallpaper' was the peg on which to hang an investigation into relations between language, image and tactility. While the emotions belonging to the words are universal, the saying exists in the Dutch language only.
The theme has been interpreted and visualized by screenprinting collages of images and fragments of letters on sixties' wallpaper.
In collaboration with Svea Gustavs, graphic designer, the screenprints have been reproduced as a book.
The design of the book is a combination of high-tech and low-tech elements, i.e. the special paper, a flexible form and handbinding.
The offset reproductions on Chagall Insize paper with it's tactile qualities resemble the original screenprints in an optimal way.
Cover and endpaper have been screenprinted by Monika and Svea on Transparance Obsession." (Monika E.Auch)

Struktur-design has produced a new perputal calendar; building on previous calendars they wanted to reduce the visual aspect to the least possible information. Each sheet contains a number in "berthold imago" which has been heavily cropped back to show just enough of it's elements to understand it's origin while creating a new slightly abstracted form. The sheets have been printed in two special pantone colours achieved by overprinting; no tints were used and the ink densities were adjusted "on-press" to create a wider range of colour and each sheet was over printed with a UV silkscreen varnish.

For more than a decade, UNA(Amsterdam)designers and her associates have initiated and produced beautiful desk diaries intended as gifts for their respective business relations. For many of the recipients, these diaries -splendidly designed and exquisitely produced- are valued as collectors items. Since the start in 1991 these diaries have been honoured with no less than 40 prestigious, international design awards including Gold and Silver Medals from the Art Directors Club of New York and the British Design & Art Direction, Certificates of Typographic Excellence from the Type Directors Club, the ISTD of London and the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany.
This years diary, the thirteenth in the series, is based on the diversity of the world's languages. 53 languages have been chosen and each represents a different week of the year. The numbers of the weeks, beginning with the word "one"(in Italian "una"), have each been translated and these corresponding texts have been printed as characters on a separate detachable page at the begining of the corresponding week. As the year progresses the user can detach the first page of the week and place it in the transparent, flexable cover of the agenda thereby creating a new cover each week.
Meghan Ferrill has written a story about 'confusion of tongues' which begins on the outside cover and continues through the agenda. The text, including cover and interior, is set in Monospace 821 (Max Miedinger) and the 53 pages illustrating the week numbers is set in Fregio Mecano, an anonymous Italian lettertype from the 1920's.

Since the first diary in 1991 these diaries have been awarded more than 40 important international design prizes. As in years past, Nijhof & Lee have a limited number of copies of the 2006 Diary available for sale.

The 2006 Diary is oblong, measures 240 x 195 mm and has in total 332 pages; 220 full-colour image pages containing the calendarium on the half of the diary size and 112 full-size blank, perforated pages on which can be written. The image pages are printed single-sided in full colour with the calendarium in silver and the opposite side in a PMS colour that changes per month. The pages on which can be written have two horizontally perforated lines and further no printed indications.
The outside cover is made from transparent synthetic material in six different colours & the inside paper-covers are printed in corresponding colour schemes; this means that there are six variations available, each having a different word blind-stamped in the synthetic material.Printed on the inside of the front & back cover are titles which refer to the images contained in the calendarium(six of these titles have been used for the covers).
The images, created by André Tijssen, are everyday situations known to us all but easily overlooked by us. André sees in them comical, absurd or puzzling images which he has framed and given a name.
