This small book is an exercise in both type design and sports.
In the words of the author himself: "Sports games are big business; millions of euros and dollars are spent on sports wear. New materials are developed constantly and new designs are made for shoes, shirts and shorts. But as far as i know, in this world of ongoing innovation and rapidly changing fashion no one has ever paid serious attention to the design of shirt numbers. These numbers are the stepchildren of sports wear. Many teams simply buy ready made numbers without paying much attention to differences in the design. Some clothing companies responsible for kits offer their own shirt numbers, but these are usually designed without seriously analysing their form and function. In my opinon, most figures used on sports shirts aren't appropriate for this special job."
