This is the first major monograph on the work and career of the Dutch artist Jacqueline de Jong and is published to coincide with a major retrospective exhibition of her work in the CoBrA Museum in Amstelveen and two commercial gallery exhibitions in Amsterdam.
Jacqueline de Jong's career according to Ed Wingen is "a road marked by important encounters, inspiring contacts, far-reaching events, sensational situations and a pattern of diverse, alternating activities, all of which are reflected in paintings, drawings, graphics, sculptures, objects, posters and the magazine The Situationist Times"(which she created and published). "Examine her ever-changing oeuvre, full of apparent contradictions, and an image takes shape of a talented, intelligent woman fully involved in her immediate surroundings, a woman who played a striking role as 'undercover' in the male-dominated world of art.
This monograph contains personal essays about her life and four important essays by Christophe Bourseiller and Roberto Ohrt on the Situationist' movement, publications, and Jacqueline de Jong's envolvement and influence.
