The Holland Paper Biennial is being held this year for the 5th time and it has grown to be a household word in the international paper and art world, with its exhibitions and artists attracting more and more attention. This year there are two locations; The Gemeente Museum in Rijswijk(NL) and the CODA Museum in Apeldoorn(NL).
The conception of the biennale and it's always well designed publications are the products of Peter Gentenaar, himself a "paper artist".
This years catalogue presents the work of 30 international artists as well as containing 9 essays regarding various aspects of the history and use of paper within a religious significance in the Islamic world, by the Aztecs and the Mayas, Japanese 'washi', Korean funeral rites, Nepalese medicinal 'Daphine' paper and devotional prints. There is also a review of the first 10 years of the biennale and it's catalogues.
