Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek has established himself as a leading figure in the international design world. From his initial training at the Design Academy in Eindhoven (NL) his career has unfolded to encompass the production of everything from furniture, lighting and accessories to major interiors and buildings. He distinguishes himself from his contemporaries by his unique self-production facility in Geldorp (NL), where his original and very honest designs, formed by his profound fascination and understanding of materials, are conceived and are then built by a skilled workshop team.
This book charts his progression and highlights significant moments in the development of new projects. His portfolio is showcased chronologically, offering a rare insight into the design process as well as the final outcome. Illustrated with over 800 images, this is the first publication on one of the most exciting and prolific designers working in Holland today.
